About the work

EV charging,
done properly.

EV charging at home is the single best argument for an electric vehicle, and getting it installed correctly is the difference between charging overnight reliably and tripping a breaker every time the dryer runs. We install Level 2 chargers across Greenville, Spartanburg, and the Upstate every week, and we pull a permit and do a proper load calculation on every job.

The two main installation paths are hardwired chargers and NEMA 14-50 outlets. Hardwired (Tesla Wall Connector, Grizzl-E Ultimate, ChargePoint Home Flex) gives the cleanest install, the highest available current, and avoids nuisance trips from overheated outlets. NEMA 14-50 is fine for portable mobile connectors and for renters who'll take the charger when they move.

The trickier part is usually the panel. A 1990s home with a 100A service often can't add a 50A circuit without pushing the main service over its calculated load — which means a panel upgrade or a sub-panel might be part of the EV project. We do the load calculation up front, before quoting, so there are no surprises. If your panel is already maxed, we'll tell you, and we can do the panel upgrade as the same job.

FAQ

Common questions

For most homeowners, the Tesla Wall Connector is better — it charges faster (up to 48A vs 32A), looks cleaner on the wall, and avoids outlet wear. NEMA 14-50 makes sense if you rent or if you want to keep your portable charger flexible.

Yes — Greenville County and the cities we work in require electrical permits for any new dedicated circuit over 30A. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection, and handle the paperwork.

Typical Tesla Wall Connector install in a normal home runs $750–$1,500 depending on distance to the panel and panel capacity. NEMA 14-50 is usually $500–$900. We provide a written quote after a 15-minute site visit.
